We are Xander and Mariaan, a passionate husband-and-wife team dedicated to capturing the beauty of South Africa’s wildlife and landscapes and showcasing the country’s diverse hospitality industry.
Our journey began with eX-Base Photography, founded by Xander. When Mariaan joined the venture with her creative flair as Purple Hat Photography, we combined our talents and launched Nomads Nature and Travel—a platform that celebrates our shared love for travel, nature, and storytelling.

As we explored more of South Africa, we noticed gaps in how information about the hospitality sector was presented, particularly during the trip-planning phase. This inspired us to offer professional photography and detailed reviews to hospitality establishments, either at affordable rates or in exchange for complimentary weekend stays.
Over time, our services evolved to meet the growing needs of the industry. In addition to photography and reviews, we now provide website design, development, and support, enabling establishments to effectively showcase their unique offerings and attract more visitors.
We are also deeply committed to nature conservation. Through fundraising, awareness campaigns, educational initiatives, petitions, and donation drives, we strive to protect South Africa’s natural heritage for future generations.
